A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

My pictorial depiction of the world’s major religions, drawn for my students in World Religions

Religion2

Religion

And along with the sketch, four questions to frame our ridiculously brief examination of the world’s major religions:

1.  How does R characterize ideal existence?  What’s so great about it?

2.  How does R characterize mundane existence?  What’s so terrible about it?

3.  How does R explain the radical gulf between our mundane existence and our ideal existence?  What have we done wrong?

4.  How does R advise us to overcome that radical gulf? What can we do?

What do you think?  A useful framework for approaching the world’s religions under considerable time constraints, or pedagogical malpractice?
